There’s nothing like the feeling of sharing good news, and it’s very exciting to announce that our president, Jill Mellady, was recently named the 2015 Most Valued Professional for the Van Nuys Postal Customer Council. A mailing industry veteran with 30 years of experience, Jill brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.
The PCC represents businesses in the L.A. area that either work in the mailing industry or utilize its services. Founded in 1986, Mellady Direct Marketing specializes in printing, mailing and mailing list processing, working closely with U.S. Postal Service officials to ensure the best-possible postage rates. Jill joined the Van Nuys PCC board in 2015.
Jill received kudos from Larry Munoz, district manager of the U.S. Postal Service’s Sierra Coastal District, which includes 12 counties and 11 million people. As the top executive in the district, he leads a veritable army of nearly 8,500 Postal Service employees.
“I have definitely observed that Jill works to foster a productive and supportive team environment in the Van Nuys PCC,” Munoz said. “Those are the types of contributions that make someone stand out as an MVP, and help build even stronger Postal Customer Councils. I salute the board of the Van Nuys PCC for choosing Jill for this award, and join them in congratulating her.”
Mario Arredondo, industry co-chair for the Van Nuys PCC board, explained that the MVP award is the organization’s way of recognizing the board member who has provided the most value and growth opportunity during the year. The award recipient is chosen through a silent vote by the board.
“Jill’s enthusiasm and ideas have been well-received and she is doing a lot of cross-marketing of the PCC with other industry associations. The board has been very happy to have her as part of the team,” he said. “In her first year with the board she helped bring fresh ideas to our marketing efforts, including rejuvenating our newsletter plus volunteering to lead our communications committee.”
The PCC’s communications committee oversees planning and execution for the organization’s printed and mailed newsletter, in addition to email campaigns and website changes.
“It’s humbling to receive this award after such a short time as a board member,” Jill said. “I have been glad to be part of the board and work together with the other members in providing quality resources and information for businesses in our industry.”
Jill and her husband, Jim, started Mellady Direct Marketing in 1986 with a focus on mailing. In the years since, we have expanded to offer a full range of digital and offset printing options, in addition to design, marketing and advertising services. Jill is very active in the Santa Clarita Valley community, serving on a number of nonprofit organizations’ boards.
