Mellady Direct Marketing looking for an experienced professional to help run our digital printing operation. This position has two major functions: pre-press and printing. It is very important for jobs to be done efficiently and in the most cost-effective way possible.The ideal candidate would have experience with pre-press file preparation for digital and offset printing, meticulous attention to detail and an interest in maximizing efficiency.
Pre-Press Requirements:
- Provide graphic design support utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Imposing Fiery Front End and variable data programming using applicable software (Mac and Linux platforms)
- Pre-flight and troubleshoot supplied digital files for fonts, images, color corrections, resolution and printability and convert to PDF print-ready status for both digital and offset printing
- Designing graphics for clients
- Work with graphic designers regarding set-up issues and provide proofs
- Know when to escalate possible issues to ensure uninterrupted production
- Maintain work orders and logs with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Digital Print Operator Requirements:
- Review work orders to determine quantity required, specifications and type/color of paper
- Setup and operate multiple hi-speed commercial production Xerox Digital Presses
- Setup jobs to run in the most cost-effective method and monitor supplies for digital equipment
- Coordinate multiple priorities in a changing environment and develop effective solutions
- Check jobs for quality and accuracy, monitor output for consistent quality in printing and finishing
- Setup and operate the bindery equipment including folders and cutters
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor problems with digital presses and primary finishing equipment
- Work with service company on more serious issues and schedule equipment maintenance
Position Requirements:
- At least three years experience operating commercial production Xerox digital printing presses
- Prepress experience for Digital and Offset Presses – Fiery Software experience a plus
- Strong mathematical skills, ability to multi-task, work independently and efficiently
- Ability to view color accurately and to manipulate files to obtain printable outputs
- Be able to lift and move 40 pound boxes of printed and stock paper
- Must be able to fluently speak and read English
